Daft Punk has marked the 10-year anniversary of their album “Random Access Memories” by sharing exclusive interviews and footage from those involved in the project. One particular footage showed Pharrell Williams hearing two completed versions of “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance.” In the interview, the artist who is also a member of The Neptunes, explained that he had initially thought he was providing demo vocals for someone else. Pharrell Williams further talked about meeting Daft Punk’s manager and Ed Banger Records owner Busy P, and working on his remix of the duo’s “Harder Better Stronger” back in 2001.
Other artists featured in the interview series include Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Chilly Gonzales, and Nile Rodgers. The interviews were recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and Gang Studios in Paris, where Daft Punk spent most of their time working on “Random Access Memories.”
Daft Punk recently announced the release of a “Drumless Edition” of their album, which will be available on vinyl and all digital streaming platforms starting November 17. The single “Within” is available to listen to now. Fans can also check out the latest episode of “Memory Tapes” on YouTube, which features Pharrell Williams reflecting on the making of “Get Lucky.”
