Martial arts partner killer jailed for minimum of 22 years

Jason Bell, a martial arts enthusiast, has been given a life sentence for the murder of his partner, Nicole Hurley, in the presence of children, as well as for holding a friend against his will and driving through a police tape. He killed 37-year-old Hurley at their house in Primrose Hill, north-west London in October of last year. He then went to a friend’s house carrying a large army-style knife, accusing his friend of sleeping with Ms Hurley. He then drove a van through a police tape, before checking himself into a mental health center.

The Old Bailey sentenced Bell to a minimum of 22 years for murder, false imprisonment, and dangerous driving. Ms Hurley’s father, Tom, stated that his family had lost an important member, and the knowledge that Nicole will miss so much of her children’s lives saddens them every day.
