The couple has been unable to leave Gaza since then.

El-Nakla’s video plea comes during a surge of violence between Israel and Palestine that originated in East Jerusalem. Yousaf, who is also a cabinet secretary for justice in the Scottish government, has confirmed that his mother-in-law and father-in-law are safe and in contact with the British Embassy in Tel Aviv. He called for an end to the violence and for both sides to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
