The police were called to a particular site in Salisbury where they found approximately 250 vehicles, causing them to close nearby roads to prevent additional cars from arriving at the site. Despite serving a Section 63 order directing the group to leave the site, around 200 people remained and continued partying for over 12 hours. Bournemouth’s National Police Air Service assisted in operations, surveying Teffont and the A36 to alert officers if anyone tried to enter the breach.
Two individuals were arrested, with one under suspicion of criminal damage and possession of class A drugs and the other under suspicion of theft. While the former has been released on bail, the latter will appear before the Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on October 3rd. Moreover, an incident took place in June, resulting in the arrest of a DJ who threw keys at a police van in protest.
Salisbury police publicised on their official Facebook page that Detective Chief Superintendent Ben Mant is concerned about the impact the rave will have on the local community. However, Mant went on to assure locals that the situation is under control. It is not yet clear what that “concerning impact” on the community is.
