Watch: Passenger fights off Huntingdon train knife attacker

CCTV footage presented in court has revealed a dramatic scene where a train passenger defended themselves using a frying pan during a knife attack. The incident took place on a Doncaster-to-London train, which was forced to make an emergency stop at Huntingdon on November 1st of last year. The defendant, Anthony Williams, aged 33, stands accused of attempting to murder ten passengers and staff members aboard that train.

In addition to this incident, Williams faces charges connected to attacks that occurred the previous day in Peterborough, where he allegedly tried to kill three individuals, followed by an attack involving a boy at a railway station in London. Williams, who lives on Langford Road in Peterborough, has pleaded not guilty to all 14 counts of attempted murder brought against him.

During proceedings at Cambridge Crown Court, jurors were shown footage capturing not only the attack itself but also the desperate measures taken by passengers who barricaded themselves inside train compartments using bicycles as makeshift blockades. At the start of the trial, it was made clear to jurors that there is no doubt Williams committed the assaults; rather, their task is to determine if he had the intent to kill the victims.

The trial is ongoing, with the court carefully examining evidence to reach a verdict on Williams’ intentions during these violent incidents
