A tragic incident unfolded in the Bahamas when a British mother lost her life while trying to save her two sons, who had been caught in strong currents during a snorkelling outing. The Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed that the woman, aged 36 and believed to be from Stapleford in Nottinghamshire, died on Tuesday. Authorities on Bimini island immediately launched an investigation into the sudden and devastating event.
According to the police, the woman had been snorkelling alongside her husband and their two young sons near the island’s southern tip when the currents unexpectedly swept the children away. The Royal Bahamas Police Force shared details of the incident via a social media statement. They explained that officers from the Alice Town police station arrived after receiving a call shortly after 10 a.m. Upon arrival, they learned the woman had already been transported to medical personnel, but despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead by a doctor. CPR had been administered at the ferry dock after her rescue. Police have indicated that no foul play is suspected, and an autopsy will be conducted to clarify the precise cause of death.
