Market at Cunard Building during River of Light

This year’s River of Light festival will feature a special market hosted within the Cunard Building. Building on the event’s popularity from last year’s successful three-night run, the market will be extended to operate for eight nights, from Friday 23 October to Friday 30 October. Each day, it will be open from 4pm until 9pm, offering plenty of time for visitors to browse.

Approximately 35 stalls will be present each evening, showcasing a variety of goods from local independent traders. Attendees can expect an assortment of items including delicious food, unique art and craft pieces, bespoke jewellery, exclusive gifts, and more. Access to the market is free, with entry available via the Strand entrance and an accessible entrance located on the Brunswick Street side.

Traders interested in participating still have a chance to join the market, though spaces are limited. Those wishing to exhibit can express their interest by emailing liverpoolmarkets@liverpool.gov.uk. In addition to the market, the Cunard Building will be part of the River of Light trail, featuring an artwork titled Coloured Peonies.

Visitors are also invited to book behind-the-scenes tours of the Grade II* listed Cunard Building during the festival. These tours offer a unique look into the building’s hidden history, including areas such as the luggage room and the first-class safe. More information and booking details are available online. The River of Light itself, now in its ninth year, runs from 23 October to 1 November, between 5pm and 9pm. This year’s theme, Together, highlights how light can connect people in joyful ways through a trail of 13 installations
