Yorkshire Wildlife Park remains closed after fatal tiger attack

Yorkshire Wildlife Park has remained closed for a third consecutive day as authorities continue their investigation into the death of a man who was attacked by a tiger after entering its enclosure. The incident occurred over the weekend at the park near Doncaster when the man reportedly climbed down from a walkway into the tiger’s area on Saturday afternoon.

According to an eyewitness account, the man was seen wearing headphones and pacing near the enclosure shortly before the attack took place. The park announced that it would stay closed in light of the incident, with a spokesperson stating, “Due to the events over the weekend, the park will remain closed today. Thank you for your understanding.”

South Yorkshire Police confirmed that the man died at the scene and emphasized that his family was receiving support during this difficult period. The force expressed their sympathies, saying, “Our thoughts are with them at this distressing time.” Meanwhile, the park reassured the public that the Amur tiger involved, named Altai, remains in its enclosure and will not be euthanised.

Although cars were observed entering and leaving the park earlier, there were no visitors inside. Yorkshire Wildlife Park also informed ticket holders on Monday morning that they would be contacted within five days to arrange new bookings, as a result of the temporary closure
