Aaron John Huxter describes his daughter Olivia-Grace as the most remarkable person he has ever known. His world fell apart when he received a devastating phone call informing him that his eight-year-old daughter had suffered a fall at her school in Rhondda Cynon Taf. At the time, Aaron was over an hour away, and as he neared the school, he was told medical staff had restarted her heart. Overcome by shock, he collapsed outside his van before being reassured by a paramedic that although Olivia-Grace was critically ill, she had been stabilised. Tragically, at Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales where Aaron and Olivia-Grace’s mother Melanie stayed by her side, it was later confirmed that her brain injury was beyond recovery. Olivia-Grace passed away on 8 October 2025.
Olivia-Grace, who had Down’s syndrome, was not only cherished for her loving nature but was also a true fighter. She was born with an atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD), underwent heart surgery at six months old, and had previously survived pneumonia at the age of five. Aaron speaks about her as a miracle who continually exceeded every expectation. Despite the ongoing coroner’s investigation into the exact cause of her death, he holds no blame towards anyone.
