The husband of a general practitioner who was discovered deceased at their residence has appeared in Crown Court facing a murder charge. The deceased, 45-year-old Hannah Cain, who practiced under the name Dr. Hannah Terry, was found at a home located in Fern Hill, Dersingham, Norfolk, on Sunday.
Mark Cain, also 45 and residing in Fern Hill, was formally charged with the murder on Tuesday. During his court appearance via video link from HMP Norwich, he responded only to confirm his identity and acknowledged that he understood the legal proceedings at King’s Lynn Crown Court. He was subsequently remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing scheduled for December 3.
The prosecution, represented by Steven Ball, alleged that Mark Cain murdered his wife during the night of October 3 into the early hours of October 4 at their shared family residence. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Hannah Cain unconscious and unresponsive.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Hannah Cain had sustained blunt force trauma to the head as well as neck injuries indicative of compression. These findings were presented as part of the case against Mark Cain
