The body of a newborn baby girl was discovered along the shoreline of the Menai Strait near Siliwen Road in Bangor, Gwynedd, by a member of the public on Sunday just before 5 p.m. BST. Initial assessments suggest that the infant may have been in the water for several weeks prior to being found.
An update from North Wales Police on Thursday confirmed that a post-mortem examination identified the baby as a girl. Superintendent Llinos Davies appealed directly to the mother, acknowledging that she might be afraid to make contact but emphasizing that her wellbeing and safety are the highest priority for the police.
