This Sunday, 4th October, Liverpool’s waterfront will once again host the Everton 10K, attracting thousands of runners to the city. Organisers are urging everyone attending the event to plan their journeys ahead of time and, where possible, to use public transportation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
To accommodate the race safely, several temporary road closures will be enforced from 6am until 12pm on Sunday morning. However, these roads may reopen earlier if the organisers assess that conditions allow for it. The affected areas include parts of Liverpool’s city centre and the north dock region, prompting travellers to consider alternative travel options such as trains, buses, or walking and cycling routes.
For those choosing to drive, diversion routes will be clearly signposted around the event area, and motorists are advised to factor in additional journey time. The specific roads scheduled to be closed temporarily during the morning include Regent Road, Waterloo Road, Paisley Street (between Greenock Street and Waterloo Road), Roberts Street (between the same two points), Bath Street, St Nicholas Place, Canada Boulevard, Water Street (between Canada Boulevard and Goree/Georges Dock Gates), Brunswick Street, Georges Dockway, and Mann Island.
Cyclists should be aware that some cycle tracks along Goree, New Quay, and Bath Street (from Mann Island to the northernmost section of the race route), as well as Regent Road and Waterloo Road, will have temporary restrictions. It is recommended that cyclists follow designated diversion signs and adjust their routes accordingly during the event. For the latest public transport updates, visitors are encouraged to check the Mersey Travel website before travelling
