A dog was rescued after becoming trapped on a narrow ledge at the base of a 40-foot (12-meter) cliff adjacent to a waterfall. The rescue was successfully carried out by a volunteer team specializing in such emergencies.
The incident took place at Pecca Falls in Ingleton, a popular local spot, shortly after 15:15 BST on Saturday. The Yorkshire Dales charity Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) joined forces with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to respond to the situation.
Penny, an eight-year-old Labrador, had fallen into the river and then climbed onto a rocky shelf about 6.5 feet (2 meters) above the water, where she became stranded. To reach her, a volunteer rescuer was carefully lowered down using a rope system.
Once Penny was secured, she was brought back up the gorge and safely reunited with her owners. The fire service’s Ripon swiftwater rescue team assisted by providing support downstream during the operation
