A major water leak has caused significant disruptions to the water supply in several areas of West Sussex, leading to flooded roads and the closure of various routes. Sussex Police reported that the Southgate Roundabout in Crawley was among the affected locations, resulting in road closures on Sunday morning due to the burst pipe.
Southern Water confirmed that approximately 9,000 customers are experiencing either a complete loss of water or low water pressure. In response to the situation, the company has established bottled water distribution points to assist residents during the outage. A spokesperson for Southern Water emphasized that their teams are actively working on-site to fix the issue as swiftly and safely as possible.
Affected neighborhoods include Woolborough Road, Holmcroft, Southgate, Tilgate, and Furnace Green, where residents have reported disruptions to their water service. The company reiterated that restoring water to customers remains its top priority throughout the ongoing repair efforts.
Among those impacted is 82-year-old John Boulton, who shared his frustration at being left without water. “It’s pretty disgusting, really – we pay so much for the water supply,” he said, adding that he had recently spent £22 on bottled water to manage the shortage
