The second series of Celebrity Traitors is set to launch next week, bringing another round of intrigue and sleuthing among a fresh group of famous contestants. Claudia Winkleman returns as host, guiding 21 new celebrity participants who will gather at the Traitors castle. There, a select few among them will serve as secret “traitors,” covertly eliminating their fellow contestants each evening while the rest aim to uncover their identities.

Other notable participants include Romesh Ranganathan, who took over hosting The Weakest Link and brings his trademark dry comedy; his long-time friend Rob Beckett, whose comedic rapport may or may not hold up inside the castle; and Miranda Hart, who might seem more trustworthy due to her warm personality and history of portraying endearing, awkward characters. Irish comedian Joanne McNally also joins, known for her confessional stand-up and candid podcast style, which contrasts interestingly with the deception central to the game.
The “Big Dog Theory,” introduced last year by former rugby player Joe Marler, suggested that a highly recognizable celebrity might be chosen as a traitor to cause maximum confusion and drama. In 2023, Jonathan Ross filled that role. This season’s cast features some heavyweight names across various entertainment fields. Michael Sheen, acclaimed for his transformative acting roles, might be under particular scrutiny despite his typically affable public image. Richard E. Grant and Jerry Hall, the latter with a high-profile personal life linked to Mick Jagger and Rupert Murdoch, add star power. Meanwhile, broadcasters Maya Jama and Amol Rajan promise to bring strategic thinking and media savvy to the competition.
Also entering the castle are figures like Ross Kemp, known for his tough persona; singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, balancing her pop stardom with a down-to-earth image; and actress Bella Ramsey, who brings childhood experience playing The Traitors. Ramsey emphasizes a thoughtful, cautious approach, stating she plans to hold back her opinions until the right moment. Online influencer King Kenny hopes to change the narrative for internet personalities after last year’s early exit for Beta Squad’s Niko Omilana, an event that sparked discussions around potential biases in reality TV voting. Mathematician and broadcaster Hannah Fry is also competing, taking on the mantle of intellectual contender with humor and humility.
The mix of contestants rounds out with actors like Myha’la, who wants to both separate herself from tough screen roles and embrace the challenge of becoming a traitor; Julie Hesmondhalgh, known for her long-running soap role and warm demeanor; Sharon Rooney, expected to keep a discreet profile; and Sebastian Croft, a rising star well-known to younger audiences. With such diverse talents and personalities, the show promises a dynamic battle of wits, alliances, and surprises.
