In a surprise move, Earl Sweatshirt and The Alchemist have announced a collaboration album titled ‘VOIR DIRE,’ set to be released on October 6th via Tan Cressida/ALC/Warner Records. The album consists of 11 tracks, including three new unreleased ones namely, ‘Heatcheck,’ ‘The Caliphate,’ and ‘Mancala.’ The Caliphate features Vince Staples, and its music video has been released alongside the album announcement.
The existence of this project wasn’t known until earlier this year when Earl’s fans led a scavenger hunt to find the album, which was initially released by The Alchemist on YouTube as a fake name four years ago. A snippet of the lead collaborative track featuring Mike titled ‘Sentry’ was also released last month on streaming platforms.
Earl and The Alchemist are heading on a North American tour in November alongside Mike and Black Noi$e. The tour is scheduled to commence on November 6th at Showbox Sodo, Seattle, and run through several cities, including San Francisco, Atlanta, New York, and Detroit, before concluding towards the end of the month.
Earl has previously worked with The Alchemist on his last record, ‘Sick!.’, and in a 2022 interview with Mixmag said, “Al is a really great person and someone who genuinely cares about me, bro. It makes for the best recording because I can go with my whole self over [to his house] … Sometimes you need the space or the freedom to be as messed up as you are to get it out.”
