British rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, is scheduled for a retrial on rape charges in Australia next June. This development follows a previous trial in which the jury was unable to reach a verdict on some of the rape accusations against him.
Earlier this year, in July, Barrientos was cleared of three rape counts, along with one assault and one strangulation charge. However, the jury did find him guilty on two other assault charges. For three additional rape charges, no verdict was reached, and Barrientos has consistently denied all allegations related to those charges. The accusations come from a 20-year-old fan who claimed that after a 2024 concert in Perth, Western Australia, Barrientos raped and assaulted her multiple times in his hotel room.
During the initial court proceedings, it was revealed that the sexual encounter had begun consensually, but the alleged victim stated that the situation turned violent and that Barrientos refused to stop. Perth’s District Court recently set the retrial to begin on 15 June, with the process expected to continue for approximately eight days. Barrientos was not present at the latest court hearing and is reportedly back in the UK, having received permission to leave Australia as a condition of his bail.
Following the retrial, sentencing for the two assault convictions from the July trial will be determined. Barrientos, originally from Colombia but raised in the UK, is widely recognized for his involvement with the YouTube group Beta Squad.
