Keenan’s father received a community service order for attempting to assume responsibility for the incident. Speaking about the sentence, McGill expressed disappointment, feeling that the driving ban was insufficient and that Keenan’s lack of remorse warranted a harsher penalty. The judge acknowledged aggravating factors, notably Keenan’s failure to identify himself immediately after the crash, and referenced character statements praising his community contributions and claimed remorse.
