An extensive six-year investigation by NTS uncovered a scheme orchestrated by an individual who operated through a network of associates across various cities in England. This network managed a series of bogus agencies and photography studios located in London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Coventry, and Nottingham. The fraudulent operation preyed on aspiring models by creating the illusion that legitimate model agencies were interested in signing them.
Potential victims were first contacted after responding to advertisements from local photography studios or social media campaigns. They received emails informing them that they showed modeling potential, which led them to believe that they were on the path to joining a professional modeling agency. However, to progress, they were required to purchase portfolio photographs from the studios, which was presented as a necessary step for becoming an agency model.
Many of those targeted fell into financial traps, often resorting to credit agreements arranged by the perpetrators or taking out costly payday loans to cover the upfront costs of the photo packages. In reality, the victims received only low-quality digital photographs, which provided little to no opportunity for professional modeling assignments. Furthermore, the majority never secured paid modeling work as promised.
Meanwhile, the person behind the fraud, identified as Foster, used the illicit earnings to acquire luxury items, including expensive watches and cars. Numerous victims conveyed to NTS investigators that the experience left them not only financially burdened but also emotionally shattered, with feelings of humiliation and betrayal weighing heavily on them
