A series of videos show an individual exiting the driver’s side of a vehicle and approaching the entrance of a depot. At the gate, the person engages in a brief interaction before the security barriers are raised, allowing the lorry to enter the premises.
The estimated total worth of the stolen goods, which includes the trailers and Guinness kegs, is approximately £205,000. Recently, the trailers involved in the theft were recovered in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
One trailer was discovered in the Hall Lane area just after 03:05 BST on a Tuesday, while the other was found the following day around noon in the Gillibrands Road vicinity. Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchey emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “We will not settle for anything less than the full recovery of the near 900 stolen Guinness kegs and the locating of the offenders behind this brazen heist.”
Det Sgt McClatchey added that the investigation is ongoing, focusing on identifying the two individuals seen in the CCTV footage who are believed to hold essential information. He called on the public for assistance, saying, “I’d urge anyone who recognises these men [to] contact us so that we can progress with our investigation and I would also strongly encourage the men in the footage to please come forward.” He also warned that since the stolen kegs are likely being sold by criminals, anyone approached by potential sellers should be cautious and report any suspicious activity to the police
