A group of masked protesters is currently blocking access to the Port of Dover, causing significant disruption to traffic. Kent Police confirmed they are aware of the ongoing demonstration at the ferry terminal and are actively engaging with those involved in the protest.
As a result, vehicles are unable to enter or exit the port. Visuals from the location show a large crowd, with many participants dressed in black and wearing face masks.
In response to the situation, P&O Ferries assured passengers that those who miss their scheduled sailings will be accommodated on the next available crossing. Similarly, the ferry company DFDS acknowledged the traffic issues and stated they would assist passengers by allowing them to board subsequent departures.
The traffic hold-up affects both directions on the A20, specifically between the A256 York Street and the A2 Jubilee Way in Dover. National Highways reported a resulting four-mile traffic jam, with delays estimated to last up to 30 minutes
