Authorities have detained four individuals on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice in connection with the murder of a woman that occurred over three decades ago. The victim, Doreen Morris, aged 64, was fatally stabbed with a fork in 1994 after interrupting a burglary at her residence, Penrhyn Uchaf, located on Anglesey. This information was revealed during a coroner’s inquest held in 2023.
In 1995, Joseph Carl Westbury was acquitted of the murder charge after denying any involvement in breaking into Doreen’s home. Tragically, Westbury died by suicide in May 2016. Recent developments in the case came about through North Wales Police, who announced on Wednesday that four arrests had been made — involving one man and three women, all residents of north Wales.
The renewed action is credited to significant improvements in forensic technology along with a thorough reevaluation of the case evidence. These advances have facilitated the police in their ongoing efforts, with the Morris family having been kept informed throughout the investigation. Mark Pierce, the senior review officer handling the inquiry, stated, “Forensic results, combined with a detailed review of witness evidence, have provided grounds to interview four people on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.”
