Authorities are seeking assistance in identifying an elderly woman whose body was discovered inside a bin bag in a Liverpool park. The deceased, described as a white female likely in her seventies, was found in Stanley Park shortly before 5:30 pm last Friday. She was wearing a bright pink Nike t-shirt and stood approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, with a petite frame and strawberry blonde hair.
Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson of Merseyside Police characterized the case as a “shocking crime.” Investigators believe the woman’s body may have been left in the black bag within a walled garden section of the park for several weeks before being found. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday, but the results have not been released as the investigation continues.
Wilson urged the public to consider whether they might know anyone in the local area—whether neighbors, relatives, or friends—who has been missing or out of contact recently. She explained that although police have reviewed missing persons reports from Merseyside and beyond, no matches have been found to identify the woman.
She added that sometimes people disappear without obvious concern from those around them, due to reasons such as planned vacations or misunderstandings, meaning missing reports may not always be filed promptly or at all. The police are appealing for anyone with potential information to come forward to aid in identifying the deceased and advancing the investigation
