A lightning strike on air traffic control equipment caused significant disruption at London Luton Airport, impacting flight landings and departures. The airport released a statement explaining that operations were halted between 17:40 and 19:15 BST, leading to about 30 flights being either cancelled or diverted. Similarly, Kika Rocha, who was set to fly to Ibiza for a holiday, encountered a cancellation and difficulty obtaining information after customer service ceased operations at 20:00. Though she managed to book a flight to a different Spanish location for the following day, she remarked on the disorder inside the airport. Jeff Chan, scheduled to fly to Venice for a hiking trip, experienced a six-hour delay with limited communication from the airport, compounded by flooding that canceled his bus from the nearby station.
