Man dies in crash after Stratford-upon-Avon police pursuit

A fatal incident occurred near Stratford-upon-Avon following a police chase that resulted in the death of a man and injuries to two women. Warwickshire Police reported that officers attempted to stop a black Audi on Birmingham Road just before 5:30 PM BST on Monday, but the vehicle did not comply. Consequently, a pursuit was initiated.

Approximately 15 minutes into the chase, the Audi collided with a white Ford Puma. Paramedics confirmed that the male driver of the Audi died at the scene. The Ford’s driver, a woman, sustained serious injuries and is currently in critical condition in hospital. A female passenger in the same Ford was also hurt, with serious injuries, though her life is not believed to be at risk. A police watchdog has launched an investigation into the incident.

The pursuit involved the Audi traveling towards the A46 before looping back towards Stratford via the A439 Warwick Road, where the crash eventually took place. Police indicated that several other vehicles suffered damage during the chase.

As a result, the A439 Warwick Road remains closed between the Marraway roundabout and its junction with Ingon Lane and Sand Barn Lane. Warwickshire Police advised motorists to find alternate routes and warned that the road closure could continue for an extended period
