In light of recent events, Davies announced that a fire summit will be convened later this year. The purpose of this gathering is to analyze and apply the lessons learned from the summer’s incidents. He also shared that he had spoken with members of the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS), the Army, and various fire services from around England, all of whom were involved in managing the crisis.

Approximately 200 Army personnel contributed over the weekend by digging fire breaks and assisting with logistics, such as water distribution.

When questioned about whether additional support could have been provided, Davies responded confidently. He explained that requests for help were made and promptly met, allowing the creation of firebreaks that prevented the flames from reaching residential areas. “That’s what we were really facing here in Treherbert… a genuine danger of people’s homes being at risk,” he said. Thanks to swift action by the fire service, alongside assistance from the Army and other sources, the threat to homes was successfully halted
