Nigeria influencer 'KC Luxury' arrested after cocaine destined for the UK seized

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) uncovered 184.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside brown boxes at a courier facility in Lagos on Monday, August 3. According to the agency, the illicit substance was part of an international trafficking operation that has long used Nigeria as a transit point to smuggle drugs to the UK, various European countries, and Asia.

Ten days following the seizure, an individual named Micheal was apprehended at Lagos’s Murtala Mohammed International Airport. Authorities arrested him as he tried to board a business-class flight bound for Paris. General Buba Marwa, head of the NDLEA, explained that the arrest came “upon credible intelligence that he intended to flee the country… our operatives moved decisively and apprehended him at the boarding gate… just as he attempted to escape the reach of the law.”

At the time of his arrest, Micheal was found with over $12,840 in cash, held across three different currencies: euros, pounds, and naira. Additionally, he possessed expensive jewelry described by the agency as “consistent with the proceeds of his illicit trade.” Another suspect, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, 33, who reportedly worked for a logistics company involved in transporting the cocaine, is alleged to have packaged the drugs for export and received payment in cash. Kehinde has neither responded to the allegations nor faced formal charges in court.

The NDLEA also disclosed that other suspected members of this trafficking network in the UK have been detained by foreign law enforcement agencies. General Marwa emphasized that these arrests highlight the success that can be achieved through international cooperation. “We will track you to the departure gates if we must,” he vowed during a news conference held in Lagos, underscoring the determination to dismantle the entire network
