Simon Levy, a convicted rapist and double murderer, has entered a plea of not guilty to charges related to an assault on a prison officer at Belmarsh. The 41-year-old offender, currently serving a whole life sentence for the murder of two women and the rape of another, faces allegations of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional suffocation within the high-security facility.
The incident in question took place on 18 February while Levy was detained awaiting trial for multiple serious offenses, including double murder, rape, and several sexual assaults. During proceedings on Monday at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Levy denied the accusations. According to prosecutor David Burns, the attack occurred shortly after Levy concluded a meeting with prison officer Paul Dunne. Burns detailed that Levy allegedly used a pen to stab Dunne multiple times in the arm and neck before grabbing the officer by the throat and tightening his hold.
Levy’s defense counsel, Jason Lartey, contested these claims, stating that his client rejects any assault on the officer or the allegation of throttling. The legal matter has now been transferred to Inner London Crown Court, with a trial date scheduled for 14 September.
In recent developments, Levy was sentenced for the murders of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, aged 53, committed in March 2025, and Sheryl Wilkins, 39, who was killed five months later. Earlier that year, he sexually assaulted a third woman in the same Tottenham car park where Wilkins’s body was discovered. Prior to these crimes, Levy had served time for two sexual assault offenses in 2018, and earlier this year, he received further sentences for 11 additional sexual assaults carried out between 2022 and 2025
