A 56-year-old man from Moray has gone missing in Rome during the first night of his vacation, according to his fiancée. Colin Scott had just arrived in the Italian capital with his partner, Anabella Mcallister, when he vanished around 10 p.m. on Friday near the Pantheon, having turned down a side street.
Mcallister shared on social media that Scott, who is originally from Elgin, was feeling unstable due to his medication combined with the warm weather. She added that he was without his phone or wallet when he disappeared, making it difficult for him to find his way back.
An official from the Foreign Office confirmed they are assisting the family and are in communication with the local authorities in Italy. Efforts are ongoing to locate Scott, with Italy’s state police being contacted for more information.
In her statement, Mcallister explained the situation: “He was in a bit of an unsteady state due to medication and heat.” She recounted how she stopped to take a photograph while Scott moved ahead along a side street, only to find that he had vanished by the time she caught up. Highlighting the distress of the situation, she said, “He has no phone or wallet with him and probably forgets the name of the hotel.” She concluded with a poignant reflection: “What was meant to be a dream holiday has turned into a nightmare.
