A tense standoff involving a man wanted by police concluded when officers arrested him while he slept on the roof of a property. The incident unfolded on Reservoir Street in Salford, where Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and emergency services spent two days managing the situation.
Video footage reveals members of GMP’s tactical team carefully placing a ladder against the rear porch roof before an officer reached out and apprehended the man as he slept. A brief struggle followed, during which the man was pulled down to the garden below and subsequently arrested. During this encounter, the man’s trousers appeared to slip, and two police officers sustained minor injuries.
The 37-year-old man was wanted on recall to prison for previous offenses, and GMP indicated that another police force had requested his arrest. He was taken into custody on suspicion of causing a public nuisance, criminal damage, public order offenses, burglary, and assaulting two police officers. He remains detained as investigations continue.
