Three teenage boys have been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing incident in Luton. Bedfordshire Police responded to reports of violent disorder at Kingsway Recreation Ground around 6:30 pm on Friday. At the scene, a 17-year-old boy was discovered with stab wounds and was subsequently taken to hospital, where he later died.
The suspects, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court. Due to their ages, their identities are not being disclosed. They face charges including murder, violent disorder, and possession of a bladed article. All three have been remanded in custody as they await the next court hearing.
In related developments, another 17-year-old who was arrested over the weekend has been released on bail as investigations continue. Additionally, a further 17-year-old who was apprehended on the same day as the stabbing incident, and who was receiving treatment for serious injuries in hospital, remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener addressed concerns from the community, saying, “We understand this was a shocking incident for the local community and we would like to reassure them that we have had detectives working tirelessly on this case throughout the weekend.” He also confirmed that police would maintain a high visibility presence in the area to ensure public safety
