Merseyside police have confirmed the tragic deaths of four men following a car collision involving a lamppost. The incident occurred shortly before 2:00 BST on Liverpool Road in Huyton. Authorities reported that the vehicle veered off the road and struck the lamp-post.
Among those who lost their lives were two men aged 23, alongside two others aged 24 and 26. All four died at the scene of the crash, according to the police. In addition, a 27-year-old passenger was also in the car at the time and has since been hospitalized, with officers stating his condition is stable.
The vehicle involved was identified as a black Seat Cupra, travelling from Liverpool towards Knowsley when it left the roadway. Following the collision, emergency services responded to the scene to attend to the victims and initiate their investigation.
As part of their ongoing inquiry, police have closed eleven roads in the vicinity, including Liverpool Road and East Prescot Road. These closures extend from the junction of Princess Drive to Finch Lane, allowing authorities to examine the scene thoroughly
