Trial of The Study Preparatory School crash driver set for 2027

Claire Freemantle, the driver involved in a tragic car crash at a school event in Wimbledon, is scheduled to face trial in September next year. The incident took place on July 6, 2023, when a Land Rover driven by Freemantle collided with an end-of-term tea party at The Study Preparatory School in southwest London.

Two eight-year-old girls, Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau, lost their lives in the crash. In addition to these fatalities, several other parents and children were seriously injured in the accident. Freemantle, 49, who resides in Edge Hill, Wimbledon, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and seven counts of causing serious injury.

During a recent hearing at the Old Bailey, Freemantle confirmed her identity but was not required to enter any pleas. The case will proceed to trial for a full examination of the charges against her.
