Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson fulfilled a special promise by renting out an entire cinema in Colchester to provide an unforgettable experience for 200 pupils from St Gregory Primary School in Sudbury, Suffolk, along with their friends and families. The students were treated to an exclusive screening of the new live-action Moana movie at the Vue cinema, where all nine screens were reserved just for their group. This generous gesture was arranged in collaboration with Disney and came after The Rock was moved by a video featuring the children asking him to convince their head teacher, Daniel Woodrow, to take them to see the film.

About 700 people in total attended, including pupils, their families, and friends, all of whom were treated with special goodies such as chocolates, jelly sweets, popcorn, Moana-themed cupcakes, and signed posters from Dwayne Johnson himself. Woodrow emphasized the children’s excitement, noting they were enthusiastically discussing their favorite moments and singing songs from the movie as they left the venue.
The pupils were encouraged to don Moana costumes and themed T-shirts for the occasion, which was part of a remarkable surprise after approximately 50 of the Year 3 and 4 students had previously met The Rock in London. Initially expecting a traditional school trip, the children instead discovered they were headed to a unique “Moana Experience” arranged to celebrate the movie’s release. Their viral video had caught the actor’s attention back in January, prompting him to send a video response promising to hire out a cinema for them and their loved ones.
The exclusive event included a special pre-recorded message from Dwayne Johnson played before the screening, setting the tone for an evening that Woodrow hopes will leave a lasting impression.
