A woman has appeared in court facing charges related to the death of her infant daughter, who allegedly suffered fatal injuries inflicted by exposure to intense and prolonged heat from a hairdryer. The incident is said to have occurred while the child was under the mother’s care in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, on the 30th of September, 2023.
Courtney Gartshore stands accused of recklessly and culpably subjecting her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia-Rose Gartshore, to the harmful heat emitted by the electrical device. Additionally, it is claimed that during this time, Gartshore had consumed alcohol and used the Class B substance mephedrone, despite being solely responsible for her baby.
The 27-year-old denies the charge of culpable homicide, along with other related allegations, as she undergoes trial at the High Court in Aberdeen. Authorities contend that the injuries Dahlia-Rose sustained were extensive and directly contributed to her death.
