The inquest into the death of Noah Donohoe, which has been ongoing for an extended period, has been postponed until later this year. This decision was made by the coroner shortly before 1:00 a.m. BST on Friday, due to upcoming holiday commitments of four jurors.

Mr Justice Rooney characterized the situation as “unprecedented,” highlighting the unusual nature of the developments. The inquest has been investigating the circumstances surrounding Noah Donohoe’s death in north Belfast in June 2020.

Since Tuesday morning, the jury, consisting of eight men and two women, had been deliberating for three consecutive days. Despite their lengthy discussions, they were unable to reach the unanimous verdict that the court requires by the end of the third day. Their session on Thursday extended late into the night, concluding just before 11:30 p.m.

The final hours of the jury’s deliberations were held in the Royal Courts of Justice after relocating from the nearby Laganside Court at around 6:00 p.m. Shortly before 11:30 p.m., it was reported that two jurors would be absent on Friday due to prearranged vacations, and another two jurors would be unavailable from Saturday for the same reason.
