An 18-year-old male tragically lost his life in the River Wye during a Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) Award expedition. The incident took place near Glasbury, Powys, where emergency services launched a search after reports indicated that the individual had entered the water and was missing.
Authorities confirmed that the young man’s body was subsequently found following a coordinated search effort. This operation involved mountain rescue teams, firefighters, and assistance from the National Police Air Service, all working together to locate him.
In response to the tragedy, the Duke of Edinburgh Award organization expressed their condolences, stating: “Our thoughts are with the young person’s family, together with all those who were taking part. We will do everything we can to support them at this difficult time.”
