Fife man dies after being shot 'multiple times' in Caribbean

A tragic incident has claimed the life of a man from Fife, who was fatally shot multiple times on a Caribbean island, according to police reports. Daniel Vettrino, a resident of Dysart, lost his life after an event that took place on Canouan, one of the islands in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force responded to reports of gunfire in the Gym Hill area around 11:30 pm on Wednesday. Following the shooting, Vettrino, aged 36, was declared dead by a local medical officer. Authorities have confirmed that a post-mortem examination is pending and an official investigation into the incident is underway.

A relative of Vettrino offered heartfelt words, remembering him as “much loved by everyone” and described him as “a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him.” The family member added, “He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world.”

The foreign office has stated that they are providing support to the family of the deceased British national and are maintaining communication with local officials as the investigation continues. Canouan itself is a small island within the St Vincent and the Grenadines archipelago, measuring approximately 3.5 miles in length and 1.2 miles in width, situated between the main island of St Vincent and Grenada
