A court case is currently underway involving actor Micheal Ward, who faces serious allegations of rape and sexual assault linked to an incident in London in 2023. Ward, 28, known for his prominent roles in the film *Blue Story* and the Netflix series *Top Boy*, is accused of committing the alleged offenses inside a car shortly after meeting the woman at a bar.
During the first day of the trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, jurors listened to a police interview with the alleged victim. She described feeling “numb” and “scared” throughout the incident, recalling a strong desire for the ordeal to end. Ward has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, maintaining that any sexual interaction between the two was consensual.
According to the court proceedings, the woman met Ward at a nightclub party in north-east London. She was aware of his acting career and said she felt flattered when he requested her Snapchat details. The woman agreed to accompany Ward to his friend’s Mercedes, where they shared a kiss and she consented to intimate touching. The actor later invited her and her friends to an afterparty at another location. It was near this event, in a vehicle, where the alleged assault is said to have taken place.
In her police statement, the woman said she attempted to exit the car but was told to close the door by Ward. After his arrest, Ward appeared in court wearing a blue shirt with a burgundy tie and told police, “I deny the allegation of rape. I want to put on record that we had consensual foreplay and consensual sex.” Ward, born in Jamaica and raised in London, gained recognition after winning the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2020 for his breakthrough roles, including that of Jamie, a gang leader in *Top Boy*, and Marco in *Blue Story*. The trial is ongoing
