This donation was part of several contributions she made to various foodbanks during her Eras Tour. The charity revealed that Swift’s generosity enabled them to purchase the equivalent of one and a half articulated trucks filled with food supplies.
Metallica recently made what the charity described as their “largest celebrity donation” to date. Rachel, a representative from Cardiff Foodbank, highlighted the significance of such contributions beyond the monetary value. She emphasized that Metallica’s support elevates the charity’s visibility and encourages both the band’s fanbase and the local community to get involved.
Despite these donations, the charity faces challenges with its finances this year. Rachel estimated operational costs would total £700,000, yet donations have fallen by 27%, even though demand remains steady. She noted, “The number of people needing us is the same as last year, but our food donations have dropped by 27% and we’ve seen that reflected in the empty shelves.” However, she expressed optimism that incoming donations would allow the foodbank to restock in bulk and continue receiving community support. Rachel also remarked, “The cost of living impacts all of us, it also impacts our running costs and we know our donors are generous, but we know the cost of living is pinching their pockets too.”
