Important notice: Fields of Eire Irish Music Festival

Liverpool City Council has announced that the Fields of Eire Irish Music Festival, scheduled for June 5 and 6, 2026, will not take place in Newsham Park as originally planned. This decision comes after careful evaluation by the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which includes representatives from Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, and the North West Ambulance Service.

As the entity responsible for managing Newsham Park, the Council has concluded that it cannot grant a Land Use Agreement for the event. Despite thorough discussions with the festival’s organiser, during which the Council and SAG offered support and guidance to facilitate a safe event, key concerns raised about safety protocols remain unresolved.

Liverpool City Council emphasizes that a Land Use Agreement will only be issued when there is definitive evidence that robust safety measures are in place. Both the Council and its multi-agency SAG partners prioritize public safety above all else and maintain strict standards to ensure all events held within the city comply with legal and safety requirements.

Those who have purchased tickets for the festival are advised to reach out directly to the event organiser for further details and updates regarding the situation
