Tuesday may bring some thunderstorms to central England and Wales due to the ongoing hot weather. These storms, however, are expected to be very localized and unlikely to provide significant relief from the prevailing heat.
A wider break from the heat is anticipated on Wednesday, particularly across much of eastern and southeastern England. Cooler air coming off the North Sea will lead to a temperature drop of around five to ten degrees in some areas. Meanwhile, Wales and southwestern England are likely to stay warm, as they remain protected from the cooling effects of the sea breeze, with temperatures possibly reaching up to 30°C.
By Thursday, the arrival of hot air flowing back from France will interrupt this cooler spell. Temperatures are predicted to rise once more, with highs around 30°C expected again. This resurgence of warmth will temporarily halt the cooler conditions seen earlier in the week.
Looking ahead to the weekend and into the following week, most weather models suggest that the cooler conditions will return more noticeably. The jet stream, currently positioned to the north, is expected to shift southwards. This change will bring areas of low pressure, occasional rain, stronger winds, and a drop in temperatures as the start of June approaches
