Polanski apologises for 'unintentional mistake' over houseboat council tax

The Green Party has acknowledged that its leader, Zack Polanski, had been residing on a houseboat in London until recently and may have overlooked paying the associated council tax. This issue came to light amid questions regarding whether the houseboat, docked at a marina in Hackney, was considered Polanski’s main residence.

According to a party representative speaking to the BBC, Polanski has already begun addressing the situation by taking steps to settle any council tax liabilities that may be identified. The spokesperson also conveyed Polanski’s sincere apology for the mistake, describing it as unintentional. The party did not, however, disclose detailed information about his current living arrangements, citing security concerns.

The Green Party told The Times that Polanski rented a room elsewhere in London, with council tax included in that rent, insisting he only stayed on the houseboat occasionally. However, evidence such as regular laundry services from a local business and the use of a nearby building as a postal address suggested the couple had been living on the narrowboat for several years. Additionally, Polanski had been registered to vote at the marina address
