Later today, the Bafta Television Awards will take place, bringing together stars from prominent series such as Adolescence, Amandaland, The Celebrity Traitors, and Last One Laughing. Adolescence has dominated numerous award ceremonies over the past year, securing victories at the National TV Awards, Golden Globes, and Emmys, and it continues to lead with seven Bafta nominations. The acclaimed Netflix drama is competing across various categories, while the sitcom Amandaland has earned four nominations specifically in comedy. Individual acting nods feature Erin Doherty and Aimee Lou Wood each with two, alongside multiple nominations for Alan Carr, Bob Mortimer, and Romesh Ranganathan.

Among the highlights, Adolescence is the favorite for best limited drama, with five of its cast members recognized in acting categories, including Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters, and Christine Tremarco. A notable scene featuring Jamie, played by Owen Cooper, receiving nominations for the memorable moment award, which is unique as it is decided through public voting. The series has already claimed two Bafta Craft Awards celebrating behind-the-scenes excellence. Meanwhile, Erin Doherty is also nominated for best actress for her role in Disney+’s A Thousand Blows, which is itself shortlisted for best drama.

Actresses Erin Doherty and Aimee Lou Wood stand out by being nominated in both leading and supporting acting awards. Doherty’s nominations include her work on Adolescence and A Thousand Blows, while Wood is recognized for BBC Three’s Film Club and the HBO/Sky dark comedy The White Lotus. Other notable acting nominees include Colin Firth, Jodie Whittaker, Matt Smith, Sheridan Smith, and Taron Egerton. Alan Carr’s victory moment from Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job is among the memorable moments nominees, and he is also competing for best entertainment performance. Bob Mortimer, following his win on the first series of Last One Laughing, is recognized for best entertainment performance, as is Romesh Ranganathan for both Romesh: Can’t Knock the Hustle and Rob & Romesh Vs….
