Police have completed their searches at the headquarters of a religious community in Cheshire, with authorities confirming that the building has now been “released to the residents.” The investigations had centered around serious accusations linked to this group.
In March, Cheshire Police were notified about alleged serious sexual offenses, forced marriage, and modern slavery involving a member of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light. These incidents reportedly took place during 2023. Following the searches, all those arrested have been granted conditional bail, which includes restrictions preventing their return to Webb House. Despite concluding the searches, police maintain a presence in the area.
The allegations point to a single female victim, who was part of the group at the time the offenses allegedly occurred. The site reportedly housed around 150 individuals. Among the ten people arrested were individuals of diverse nationalities, including British, Mexican, Italian, American, Spanish, German, Swedish, and Egyptian.
Cheshire Superintendent Gareth Wrigley emphasized that the investigation is not targeting the religion itself, stating, “As we have stated from the very beginning, this is not an investigation into religion.” He cautioned against speculation, adding, “Our investigation solely focuses on the serious allegations which have been reported to us.” Additionally, during the raids, 25 individuals were charged with public order offenses unrelated to the main investigation.
