During a Peter Kay comedy show in Birmingham, the event was abruptly halted and the venue evacuated after police responded to a report of a suspicious bag. West Midlands Police confirmed that a 19-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The Utilita Arena issued a statement confirming that all attendees had been safely evacuated and that the venue was secured. At the time, Peter Kay had been performing for approximately 45 minutes before the interruption occurred.
An eyewitness, Steve Aspinall, who was in the audience, described how two men approached the stage and one whispered something to Kay. Following this, the comedian swiftly left the stage area. He noted the atmosphere was tense and confusing but added that the crowd remained calm and exited without panic.
Footage shared on social media captured audience members leaving the arena in an orderly manner.
