A significant fire broke out at a property on Cazenove Road in Stamford Hill, north London, leading to the evacuation of several nearby homes and a synagogue. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) deployed about 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines to tackle the blaze. The incident has drawn considerable attention due to its location close to a synagogue, prompting concern within the local community.
The Metropolitan Police have stated that the investigation into the cause of the fire is in its preliminary phase. They are keeping “an open mind” regarding how the fire started. Acknowledging the sensitivity of the situation, the police commented, “We appreciate that given the location of the fire and proximity to the synagogue, there will undoubtedly be community concern.”

The LFB mentioned that it received approximately 40 emergency calls shortly after 16:00 BST, prompting rapid responses from fire crews stationed at Stoke Newington, Islington, Walthamstow, and nearby areas.
Residents have been urged to steer clear of the vicinity while emergency services work to control the fire. Police officers remain on site, offering reassurance and support to residents and the wider community around the affected area.
