Woman arrested after two children die in house fire

A devastating house fire in Wolverhampton has resulted in the deaths of two young children, with a woman subsequently arrested in connection to the tragedy. The incident occurred on Mason Street on Friday evening at approximately 20:30 BST, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Upon arrival, firefighters entered the burning property and managed to rescue the children inside. Unfortunately, two boys, aged one and three, were pronounced dead at the scene. West Midlands Police confirmed that a woman in her 30s was taken into custody on suspicion of causing or allowing the deaths and remains detained as inquiries continue.

Two additional children and another woman had already left the house prior to the firefighters’ arrival. They received medical checks from ambulance personnel but were not transported to hospital. The police have since established a cordon around the property as they investigate the circumstances leading to the fire.

Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the situation as a “truly tragic incident.” She extended condolences to the families affected and appealed to the public for any information that might aid the investigation.
