I'm A Celebrity crowns 'jungle legend' after eventful all-star series

Actor Adam Thomas has emerged victorious in the latest all-star edition of the reality television show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which took place in South Africa. His journey on the show was marked by significant tension, including confrontations with fellow contestants boxer David Haye and footballer Jimmy Bullard. Particularly notable was a heated argument with Bullard following an incident that nearly led to Thomas’s elimination. However, the other participants chose to save Thomas from departure, allowing him to continue in the competition.

The live final, held in a London studio, brought the campers back together, but the reunion proved contentious. Both Thomas and his rivals Haye and Bullard recounted their versions of recent disputes, creating a charged atmosphere that even caused singer Sinitta and TV personality Gemma Collins to leave the set temporarily. Ultimately, the public voted to crown Adam Thomas as the winner. Alongside him in the final were Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, entertainer Craig Charles, and former football manager Harry Redknapp.

This edition was the second installment of the South Africa-based spin-off featuring returning contestants. Thomas, who originally placed third in the 2016 regular series, faced considerable challenges this time around. Not only did Haye direct harsh labels at him, describing Thomas as “weak” and “brittle-spirited,” but Thomas also revealed that his psoriatic arthritis took a real toll during the competition. Speaking about his experience, the 37-year-old actor said, “He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge.”

Another dramatic moment emerged when Bullard forfeited a trial, leading to the threat of Thomas’s premature exit. Angered by the footballer’s decision to quit, Thomas unleashed an intense, expletive-filled outburst, which the show’s producers edited significantly for broadcast due to its severity. Craig Charles, who witnessed the incident, described Thomas’s reaction as “deeply traumatic” and expressed how aggressive he had become. After Bullard labeled Thomas’s response “pathetic” and explained his reason for leaving was simply a desire to go home, the campmates ultimately saved Thomas from elimination after the hosts Ant and Dec offered them the choice. Reflecting on his time in camp, Thomas wrote on Instagram, “I know a lot of my time in camp which has been aired recently has been drama, but there was so much more… so many laughs and so much love and warmth.”

The series was also marked by other significant occurrences. Beverley Callard, a former Coronation Street actress, had to withdraw after fainting during the Bush Telegraph segment. Earlier this year, Callard revealed a diagnosis of breast cancer, stating that her illness became apparent during filming. Advised by doctors not to attend the live final, she expressed her disappointment but emphasized the need to focus on recovery. Meanwhile, David Haye stirred controversy with remarks about women, including a derogatory comment about his girlfriend. After being voted off the show, Haye chose Gemma Collins to leave alongside him. Collins, returning 12 years after her first stint, struggled to adapt to jungle conditions. Additionally, Craig Charles made an emotional comeback following his earlier withdrawal due to his brother’s sudden passing. Other participants in this season included TV personality Scarlett Moffatt, singer Ashley Roberts, and comedian Seann Walsh
