Prince Louis holiday photo released to mark eighth birthday

To celebrate Prince Louis’ eighth birthday, the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a new photograph featuring their youngest child during a family holiday in Cornwall. The image captures the prince smiling broadly, dressed in a blue zip-up jumper, with his arms folded as he stands aboard a boat, the sea visible behind him.

This recent photograph was posted on the royal family’s social media channels by Prince William and Catherine, accompanied by the message, “Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today!” along with a red balloon emoji. Renowned photographer Matt Porteous took the picture earlier this month, continuing his role of documenting personal and special moments for the family.

Matt Porteous has previously been commissioned by the royals, including Prince William and the Princess of Wales, to capture private scenes such as those from Prince Louis’ christening. This ongoing collaboration highlights his trusted position in recording the family’s intimate and formal occasions.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles, who is officially His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Wales, was born on 23 April 2018 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. He is the third child of the couple, following his older siblings Prince George, aged 12, and Princess Charlotte, aged 10. Louis holds the fourth position in the succession to the British throne. Although he is known for his playful and mischievous nature, Prince Louis rarely takes part in formal royal duties but is regularly seen at important family events such as the Trooping the Colour Parade and Easter Sunday celebrations
